AB  - 1 A double-blind placebo controlled comparison of the bronchodilator effects of salbutamol inhaled as a dry powder and by conventional pressurized aerosol was carried out in 20 patients with chronic bronchial asthma. 2 No significant difference in the bronchodilator response between 400 μg and 600 μg of dry powder and 200 μg from the aerosol was detected. 3 Even with the highest dose of 600 μg dry powder salbutamol no subjective or objective side-effects were observed and the inhalation of salbutamol in a lactose base was well tolerated by all the patients.
